My Story

Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure. I am a pediatric cancer survivor. July 3rd, 2003 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hepatoblastoma, liver cancer, I was 4 years old. I have been cancer free since Christmas Eve 2003. I have been through multiple surgeries including a biopsy and tumor resection. Over half of my liver had to be removed. I almost lost a kidney as well. I did lose my gall bladder and some intestine, the surgeon had to completely reroute my entire digestive system. The tumor was so massive it was crushing everything inside of me, including my heart and my lungs. I was intubation and admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for a collapsed lung and had to have a chest tube. I underwent very aggressive chemotherapy. I lost all of my hair and half of my entire body weight. I suffer from post chemotherapy cognitive impairment, over 40% bilateral hearing loss and related speech difficulty, post traumatic stress disorder, depression, and tooth malformation. I am considered one of the lucky ones. Please make a donation to St. Baldrick's Foundation to help fund pediatric cancer research and pray they can find less toxic treatments for children.
