My Story
Our beloved Ileana Shuman was a healthy fun loving 5 years old when she was diagnosed with DIPG which is an inoperable brainstem cancer. She received radiation at Children's Medical Center of Dallas. This allowed her 7 months of relatively good health. She ran, played, sang in church choir, started kindergarten at Imagine International Academy and visited all of her family while taking chemotherapy. She spent that time enjoying life to the fullest. Unfortunately this story did not end the way we wanted it to. On January 6th 2013 the cancer began to grow again. The new regimen of chemotherapy did not stop the cancer from spreading and Ileana passed away on April 9th 2013.
Her death must not be in vain. There are other children out there who need our help!
Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
