My Story

Katie was diagnosed in July 2012 with rhabdomayo sarcoma a rare muscle cancer that mostly effects young teens. She had surgery almost immediately after her diagnosis. Thankfully Katie's surgeons were able to remove the tumor in Katie's leg successfully. Over the next 18 months after her surgery Katie under went numerous chemo treatment many requiring hospital stays, she also under went 12 weeks of radiation treatments as well. This past November 2013 after her last round of chemo treatment we found out the Katie is in remission! THANK GOD!She continues to have monthly appointments for blood counts and just went though another round of tests to keep a careful watch that the cancer is still in remission. This January, Katie was able to return to school and is doing very well and she also has been able to get back into her ice skates and back on the ice which was one of the biggest drives for her though this ordeal.
