Grant was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma on May 7, 2012. On May 10, 2012, he underwent a 16 1/2 hour surgery to remove a large tumor. The surgery was a success and all of the tumor was removed. However, he awoke with posterior fossa syndrome and was unable to swallow, speak, move his left side, or see clearly. He spent 9 1/2 weeks in Nationwide Children's Hospital undergoing intensive inpatient rehab. He was able to walk out of the hospital with a walker on July 12, 2012. He endured 6 weeks of radiation theraby and is currently undergoing chemotherapy which will continue until about mid-July of 2013. He serves as an inspiration to many with his never give up attitude. He has worked very hard to regain some speech and fine motor coordination, but still has a way to go to get back to where he was on May 6, 2012. He has returned to school and attends as often as his lab results allow. We appreciate all of the prayers and support we have received through this challenging experience and thank you all for sharing in Grant's journey.
