Amy was the only child of Dale and Jane Mayson. She was the "light of their lives". Amy was a Christian and a member of Salem United Methodist Church and participated in many church activities. Amy enjoyed outdoor activities such as swimming, beach volleyball,tennis, and hiking. She also loved singing and traveled with the "Easley High Singers" to Canada and several cities in the U.S. She attended Tri-County Technical College and Southern Wesleyan University. Amy became ill in October 1995 and was referred to Emory-Egleston Hospital in Atlanta Ga. for evaluation and surgery. She had tumors removed from both of her kidneys and one third of her pancreas was removed. After a lengthy recovery period, she was back to her regular routine. She was married to Bjorn Swee in August 1997. Bjorn was a very loving and devoted husband. In March of 2004, Amy suddenly became very swollen. After a battery of tests she was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer. When told the devastating diagnosis she simply said "Its in God's hands". No tears, just turning it over to Christ. Her faith in God had always sustained her throughout her life and this time was no different. She had experimental radiation treatments from the Michigan Medical University; and was evaluated by the Moffet Cancer Institute in Tampa,FL. She battled this horrible disease with every fiber of her being and never complained. Amy and Bjorn were overwhelmed with the love and support they received from their church. Salem United Methodist was a rock to them during this devastating time. Her battle ended on March 31,2005, one year after being diagnosed. She possessed such strength and grace throughout the final year of her life. Amy was and continues to be inspiration to others touched by her life. We feel so blessed and thankful to have such a special daughter.
