Gavin was diagnosed at 3 and 1/2 years old and is now 4. He is a happy bright kid who loves many of the same things other 4 year olds love. Going to the park, playing video games, reading books etc... Although we haven't done it since he was diagnosed, he used to love to have pretend campouts in his room, where we would prop his blankets up and pretend it was a tent. We would have flashlights and invite all his stuffed animals in for roasted marshmallows and smores. He would make up campfire stories. On the night he was diagnosed we were on his first real camping trip in Santa Claus, Indiana. We were sitting by a real campfire for the first time roasting real marshmallows and telling stories. He developed a fevor that night and we took him to urgent care. After a couple months of chemo and steroids, his funny personality has returned and he has alot of energy. We have a long way to go, but Gavin is in his second phase of treatment and teaching us all about strength through his recovery.
