My Story
Ryan's illness was quite a surprise for us. He had lost quite a bit of weight, which we just thought was a teenage thing. He was moody and not doing as well as usual in school. Again, we just blamed it on a phase he was going through. Thanks to a friend, we took a closer look at Ryan and brought him to a doctor. A few simple tests later, Ryan was in an ambulance being wisked away to Westchester.
Ryan endured chemotherapy and radiation. During these hard times, Ryan only missed 9 days of school! He played J.V. soccer, tennis, and continued to keep up with his school studies and music. Ryan was motivated to beat the disease and not let it interfere with his life.
Today, Ryan is healthy. He's just graduated college in music education, majoring in piano and bassoon, and he is living as if he were never slowed by cancer. Now he's attending graduate school, and continues to move forward.
