My Story

Turning three next month and have been cancer free for four months! Back in August of 2011, I was a regular kid, 16 months old - but a consistent low grade fever landed me in the doctors office. Three hours later, I was checked into OU Children's hospital and everybody was whispering about cancer. The diagnosis was Stage IV Neuroblastoma. There was a huge tumor in my belly and cancer had spread to my legs, chest, shoulders, spine & bone marrow. The next 15 months included 6 rounds of chemo, 5 surgeries, stem cell transplant, radiation and 6 months of antibody therapy. In November of 2012, I ran the bell and finished treatment….cancer free. Relapse is tricky so I signed up for another trial for NB kids that have finished treatment. I take pills every day that are supposed suppress an enzyme that my cancer cells needs to grow….praying it works! Thank you to St. Baldrick’s for funding my study and giving me a better chance of long-term survival!! On a lighter note, I enjoy dancing with my dad, hanging out with my 18 month old brother, cooking with Nana, Skyping with my Auntie Lala and cuddling with mama. I love to read books, have tea parties and take care of my dollies. We watch lots of Despicable me and Madagascar (just two that top the list) and absolutely LOVE Hershey's chocolate and Coca Cola :)
