My Story

Asher Rowen is my middle grandson. He was born in Morris IL and is perfect in every way. He spent his first year of life just like every other baby; playing, learning and growing right on schedule. We celebrated his first birthday with family and some of his favorite friends. It was a great day of gifts, singing, cake smashing and playing. Just like every other one year old. The next day Asher and his parents moved to Wisconsin. It was just weeks later he began to develop bruising all over his body along with an odd rash under his skin. Mom and dad took him to the local ER where they ran some tests and sent him to St. Josephs hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He was diagnosed positive for Leukemia within hours. This beautiful, perfect little baby has cancer! The news was heartbreaking and devastating for everyone but by far the worst for his parents. The next step was to wait for the spinal tap to tell what type of Leukemia Asher had. The results came back with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Asher's treatment began almost immediately and he continues to receive treatment at Marshfield Clinic. He has had many procedures as well as chemo weekly since he was diagnosed. Despite all of what he goes through he is strong, smart and happy, thanks to his parents who give him all the love in the world. Asher has a great team of doctors and wonderful nurses to help him get better but best of all he has strong and wonderful parents that take this "one day at a time" to fight to get their baby healthy again. Our community in Illinois and also joined by Wisconsin formed what we call "TEAM ASHER" so Asher and his mommy and daddy know they have a whole team to support them in this fight and they are not alone. Our prayers and love are sent all day, every day to them as we wait for the words "CURED"! Please help support and honor little Asher Rowen as well as all the other children fighting and living with Cancer. A cure needs to be found so that all children can live a healthy life. St Baldrick's is a wonderful foundation to give to in helping make life possible for so many children, including my grandson. Thank you in advance to all who participate! Love you Asher Rowen......YOU truly are THE Toughest Little Guy!!! Love, Gramma Wen XOXO
