Hi my name is Laud Emmanuel Edwards. I'm 3 years and 10 months old. 3 months ago on December 11, 2011, I was diagnosed with ALL. Two weeks before my diagnosis, my siblings and I all came down with pink eye. Mine took quite a few days longer to clear. Then the week before my diagnosis, I was extremely exhausted. I often went to my bed to lay down or I sat in the recliner watching tv. The thing that stood out to my mom was my pale skin coloring and purple lips, besides how lethargic I was. After 4 days of this, my mom finally convinced my dad it was time to go to the ER. Blood was drawn and based on what the Dr. found, they scheduled an appointment in the nearest city of Winnipeg, which is actually 4 hours from our home. So the morning of Dec. 11, my mom and Grandpa drove me up to Winnipeg. They redid the blood tests and within a couple hours we were meeting with a team of oncologists. I have been living in Winnipeg ever since. My parents have been taking turns staying with me at my Auntie Wendy's house. After the first 29 days of chemo, my Leukemia counts were less than .01%. However, I'm still considered Standard Risk and on the High Risk Protocol. If you want to read more about my journey please check out my CaringBridge site. www.caringbridge.org/visit/laudedwards
Let me tell you a little bit more about myself. I have an identical twin brother named Creed. I also have 3 other brothers and 3 sisters. I am #6 in the family line up. I love GeoTrax trains and the computer game Minecraft. My favorite tv shows to watch are Dora, Diego, Thomas and anything on TreeHouse. My mom says I have a very calm personality and she often calls me Laid Back Laud. For comfort, I love my green blanket that I received as a baby. My mom is teaching me a few scriptures from the Bible about healing. My favorite one to quote is Psalm 118:17, "I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord."
It has always been very important to my parents to prayerfully name their kids. My name was chosen because it means "Praise God, He is with us." He is with me even now. He has never left me and won't during this time either.
Please pray for my complete healing. Also pray for my family since we are currently separated from each other. My parents are actually considering moving the whole family up to Winnipeg, but want to be where God would have us.
