Kassie was born & raised in the small northern Michigan town of Fife Lake. An excellent athlete, she lettered in 4 high school sports: volleyball, basketball, soccer and was on the Equestrian team. She graduated with honors, as a member of The National Honor Society as well as the National Art Honors Society and went on to Western Michigan University to pursue a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy. Her academic success continues…She is a current member of Lee Honors College and on the Dean's List. Kassie also serves on the Executive Board of her sorority, Sigma Kappa.
Halfway through her sophomore year, however, she was diagnosed with a rare cancer, Large Cell Anaplastic Lymphoma, and has begun 51 weeks of Chemotherapy.
Kassie is determined to continue her classes @ WMU, even though she has a very tough year ahead of her. This is the biggest fight of her life and the battle has just begun......Yet, she maintains a positive attitude, is as vivacious as ever, and will positively win this war to conquer cancer!
