Tyler was diagnosed with leukemia while on vacation in Florida over the July 4th holiday. He was considered a 'high risk' patient due to age and blood chemistry at diagnosis. He had several complications, including allergic reactions to treatment and a fungal infection which required the surgical removal of a portion of his right lung. Due to these complications, including DIC (a platelet disorder) he required over 55 units of blood products during a one month hospital stay and he lost more than 20% of his body weight.
He is our HERO!
