My Story

Whitney Marie was born on September 27,2011 at 1:02am as a beautiful healthy 6lb 12oz girl. On November 1st, at five weeks old, my wife noticed some blood in Whitney's urine. We went directly to the emergency room and after the initial sonogram the Doctors saw a "mass" in her right kidney. At six weeks old, Whitney's entire right kidney was removed at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC and the mass was diagnosed as a "Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor of the Kidney". This is an extremely rare cancer that affects young children with only five to ten cases diagnosed in the US per year. It also happens to be a very aggressive and rapidly growing cancer, so at week seven of Whitney's young life she started her first Chemotherapy treatment of an aggressive 30 week program. After a brave battle, Whitney passed away on October 8, 2012. She is terribly missed by all who knew her.
