My Story
Our sweet son, James Camden Sikes, was diagnosed with an Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor in June 2010. He was 7 months old at his diagnosis. James was the happiest, most delightful baby. He loved silly faces, smiles, our puppies, and music. He loved to swing- either in his swing in the backyard, or if you held him in your arms and rocked him like the scene from "Dumbo". His smile was infectious and he lit up the room he was in. Whether we were at the grocery store or in the hospital, James was always a hit.
We called him "Jamesie the Giraffe" and sang a little song to him as his "theme song".
James fought his tumor so bravely. He passed away 24 days after he was diagnosed and there isn't a minute that goes by that I don't miss him so very much. The outpouring of love and support by our family, friends, and people who we have never met has been overwhelming and we are so thankful for the kindness shown to us from people all over the world.
