Brennen was 9 years old when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, Medulloblastoma. He endured 9 hours of surgery to remove the tumor, 6 weeks of radiation and a year of chemotherapy. But he didn't let any of this keep him down. He relearned how to walk without help, ride his bike and dirt bike, downhill ski, and even ran as part of his middle school and high school cross country team.
In August 2011 Brennen started to have similar symptoms to when he was diagnosed. We took him to the Dr. only to learn that a brain lesion showed up on his MRI. With much testing we learned it wasn't the cancer that had returned, but a late effect of his treatment. He was diagnosed with radiation necrosis. He again has been set back with the loss of some of his fine motor skills, impaired speech, balance and hearing. With a perseverance that our 15 year old son is known for, he continues to overcome and succeed.
Brennen loves to kayak, go camping, geocaching, cheer for the Packers, work with electronic projects, and downhill ski.
Brennen is currently a sophomore in college in theĀ Electromechanical Engineering Technician program with hopes of becoming an electrician.
