Layla Alexis Jalowy, being the youngest of 3, started her life with no worries and full of happiness. Unfortunately, her life and ours was drastically altered 5 days after her 1st Birthday when we discovered a lump near her neck. After a couple appointments and a biopsy on the lump located on her lymph node Layla was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma; one of the top 3 childhood cancers out there, this one being the most common in infants. Neuroblastoma is a cancer of the sympathetic nervous system in which immature nerve cells metastasize rapidly. As for any parent, this news was devastating but knowing that she just celebrated a milestone, her 1st birthday, made it much more emotional for our family.
