Olivia is a beautiful girl who loves to be outside and active. She is a very happy out going loving child who loves to be with her family. She is currently in 5th grade with two siblings, Ashlee 17 a senior and Cierra 12 a 6th grader. Her Nana and Papa are very involved and very supportive in her care. She played indoor and outdoor soccer and hopes to someday be able to play basketball which she has always wanted to play!! As all her nurses and doctors say along with anyone she comes in contact with she has a wonderful smile that lights up the room along with her laugh that is catchy to anyone around.
On 5-22-2011 Olivia fell roller blading on a bike trail, the tumor was discovered on the xrays. She was referred to Cleveland University Rainbow Babies Hospital with the final diagnosis on 6-16-10 High grade Osteosarcoma of the right proximal ulna. She started chemo 6-23-11. She had the first ever done elbow and ulna bone transplant surgery with donor bone on 10-19-2011. Clear margins and surgery was considered successful. When sent out, the tumor only showed 20% so chemo really wasn't considered a success but the fact that they got it all on surgery was very successful. She was not chosen for trial when randomized so she is staying with protocol for osteosarcoma and with the protocol chemo plan. She has approximately 12 weeks of planned chemo left barring any set backs.
