3 yr old Robbie was only living in California for 3 wks when he and his family discovered that he had stage 3 Wilms tumor. His tumor covered his kidney and up through the veina cava (main vein to heart). His tumor, luckily, was not in his heart. With family in Chicago, it was a tough experience to endure the next 6 mths. Only family Robbie knew were his cancer friends and staff in the hospital. He used to repeatedly press his "nurse call" button to see if his favorite nurse Katy Robinson was working, and if she was, he would continue to press the button just to see her! In the beginning of treatment, Robbie had a horrible time adjusting, Katy took the time to sit with Robbie and get to know him and didn't just treat him like another patient. Now she is shaving her head in honor of him!
Robbie is a loving 4 yr old boy who loves to flirt and dance. One his favorite things to do is break dance like Justin Beiber. He also loves spending time with his sisters Hannah and Julia.
Robbie finished treatment at the end of March and is doing great. He is continuing with physical therapy for nueropathy in his legs caused by chemo, a small price to pay for a child who is in remission!
