On Saturday, February 5th 2011, my mom took me to the emergency room for stomach pains. The doctor thought I might need an appendectomy, so he did some blood tests. When they reviewed the blood work, they discovered that my pain was due to complications from Leukemia. My white blood cell count was 400,000. It is a very treatable form, T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), and I am being treated in the Valerie Fund Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
I am a freshman in high school. The cancer has interupted my spring sports season and school work, but I plan on being back at school in the fall. I enjoy lacrosse and playing board games (i.e. chess, Risk, Clue, Monopoly, etc).
I appreciate all the care I have received from the nurses, doctors and staff at Morristown Memorial Hospital and the Valerie Fund Center. I also appreciate the tremendous outpouring of prayers and support from family and friends.
