My Story

Angel had been diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a very rare and highly malignant tumour that grows from certain kinds of muscle cells. Even more distressing was the fact that her cancer had already reached the terminal stage and the prognosis was poor. In clinical sense, her status is in palliative care. She hopes that one day the cure rate of any rare form of childhood cancer can be raised. Even though Angel could not return to school because of her illness, she was actively involved in a variety of events which help to brighten her life. Angel started to write her own blog and joined a radio show to share her experience of illness with others hoping to raise public awareness of childhood cancer. She had also volunteered as guest speaker in the Children’s Cancer Foundation’s ‘Life Education’ series and her talks were recorded for future use. At times she even went personally to schools with the Foundation’s staff to share her experiences and insights of life, and thereby inspiring students to appreciate that “life may not always be a bed of roses”. She is determined to continue her mission of enlightening others through her own life experiences.
