Tiana was diagnosed in June of 09 with Stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma. The cancer had entered her bone marrow through a tumor on her spine. It did considerable damage to her spine and left her with over 13 fractures. She did one year of hard chemo and 28cycles of radiation. In May of 2010 final scans showed no evidence of disease and she was officially in remission. In July of 2010 scans showed the cancer had returned with a vengence.. she had several tumors on the bones of her ribs and large tumors in each breast and both lungs had several nodules.. The Dr.s offered little hope but she is currently doing one more year of hard chemo and we are trusting in God to guide us and lead us in this every day horror of childhood cancer.
Tiana is an extraordinary child of God. She has a faith and outlook I often envy. She has an unusual love of all animals and they in turn love her. The hospital staff call her the "babysitter" because all the small children at the hospital follow her constantly and they love her unconditionally. Often times they have to borrow Tiana to help them get vitals on the smaller children because they all trust her and will allow procedures as long as Tiana is present! She loves life and all the simple pleasures that most of us would overlook. She has the ability to see God in every aspect of her life and she trusts in him completely with out question. To know her, is to love her and she is often descrived as a light in the midst of the darkness in this world.
Praying for a cure.
