On October 22, 2010 life changed dramatically for my daughter Delaney a fun loving energetic 8 year old who loves gymnastics, softball and playing with her brother and sister. All the pain and loss of energy that she had been experiencing prior 3 months had been identified. She was rushed to Children's Hospital in Denver CO and diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. It came as such a shock to us. Delaney took it all in stride. She was nervous and hesitant with her diagnosis at first however came to realize that she was stronger than the disease that was riddling her body and started fighting the fight.
She takes each treatment as a personal challenge and tells funny stories about the scar where her tumor was removed. Having tea with a shark is probably my favorite. Being Bald is her new style. She loves her perfectly round head and unless it is cold outside and I insist on her wearing a hat, she loves to show it off. She always has a smile on her face no matter what the circumstances may be, and in her words she always states "This is going to make a really great story."
