My husband and I first heard the words "your son has cancer" in 2001 when our baby was only 21 months old. There were some incredibly hard times in the two and a half years that Alex recieved chemotherapy. 120 weeks to be precise!
Our faith, love and support of our family and friends helped us through those years. We learned to take each day one by one and to appreciate everything.
This year Alex has celebrated, 10 years since he went into remission and 5 YEARS BEING CONSIDERED CURED!!!!!
Alex is almost 12 years old, has a little sister and plays every sport you can imagine! He loves to play and laugh and is such a caring, sweet boy.
Alex's and our lives have been transformed by his childhood cancer. We live each day to the fullest, tell each other we love each other, hug and kiss and appreciate life every day.
Alex has a friend his age that is a shavee this year. So I guess I can say that you never know how you are going to inspire someone, but cancer touches almost everyone.
Life is a gift and by supporting St. Baldrick's you are giving someone that gift each and every day.
