Meghan was 5 days old when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor that extended down into the base of her skull into her nasopharynx. She was a beautiful newborn little girl one moment and the next she was in the newborn ICU at UPSTATE with more wires and tubes than you thought a little 7 lbs. baby could tolerate! We knew our lives were going to change having a new little one join our family but our reality became something completely different and surreal with her diagnosis. Meggie had her first two surgeries before she was a week old and was started on chemotherapy when she was 8 days. Over the next year she had numerous more surgeries and a variety of prognosis that no parent wants to hear. Meghan was such a wonderful little baby who has turned into a wonderful young woman. She is now almost 17 is getting ready to graduate high school and looking forward to spreading her wings and going to college! Meggie is the one that started us doing St. Baldrick's 2 years ago and despite the scars that were hidden by her hair she bravely shaved her head to raise money for a cause she is especially close to. This year her younger sister, Emily and myself are shaving in honor of Meghan. Meggie is going to be supporting & getting donations for our team (Em & M) while keeping her own lovely locks firmly on her head as she is getting ready to start her next big adventure in life!
