At 4 1/2-years old, Elise was diagnosed with an inoperable brainstem glioma. Told that their daughter had a greater than 80% chance of dying in 6-18 months even with the most aggressive therapies available, Elise's parents took her to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, hopeful for a miracle.
Elise's tumor had grown so large & was protruding outside of her brainstem, that the neurosurgeon was able to get a small biopsy of her tumor. The pathology showed that Elise's tumor was a malignant, Grade II-III tumor & Elise underwent 6 weeks of Radiation Treatment to her brainstem.
Elise is now almost 1-year post-diagnosis & is doing great, goes to 1/2-day kindergarten, loves playing with her twin brother, Evan & baby sister, Lauren, and since finishing her RT, the tumor remains stable. We continue to pray that research will lead to a cure for Elise's brainstem glioma & that the lives of children who suffer from cancer will be saved.
