Ella was a vivacious and loving little girl who was diagnosed with cancer
at the age of six. She rarely let that get her down. She had a contagious,
wonderful spirit that everyone around her could feel. She was always smiling
and loved to laugh, sing, and play with her sister and friends. She excelled in
school and enjoyed learning and making friends. In keeping with
her humor, she would say her favorite subject was recess.
Ella's passion since the age of two was gymnastics. Her dream
was to one day be an Olympic gymnast. After Ella's cancer
diagnosis, she continued to do gymnastics when she was able, as well as swim
and dance ballet. She taught her family and friends the importance of
living each day to the fullest.
Ella attended the St. Baldrick's events organized by her wonderful
oncology nurses. She enjoyed being on stage, loved to help shave heads,
and appreciated the support that these events gave her and all kids
fighting cancer.
Ella lost her life to cancer on June 3, 2006, at the age of eight.
The 7th Annual St. Baldrick's-Belleville event will be held in her memory,
and in support of all children who continue to battle this dreaded
disease. Thank you for supporting this cause and for having a part in
helping to find a cure for childhood cancer.
