My Story
Ber (“Bear”) was diagnosed with stage IV Neuroblastoma in November 2007, the week of his fourth birthday. He has been in active treatment for almost three years in VA at MCV and in NY at MSKCC. Ber has endured 9 rounds of high-dose chemo, 6 rounds of low-dose chemo, 3 surgeries to remove tumors from his pelvis, upper back and right arm, 3 stem cell harvests, 28 days of radiation, 8 rounds (80 days) of immunotherapy treatment (3F8 with Beta Glucan), 1 round of 3F8 with GM-CSF and 4 cycles of Accutane.
Ber is an active six year old boy with a big heart and a great personality. He started the first grade this year and loves school and all of his friends. Ber loves playing with his little sister Lizzie, being outside, swimming, listening to rock-n-roll and he has a wonderful imagination. He is my hero! Ber reminds us everyday to live for today!
