My Story

Zack has always loved playing and watching sports, mainly basketball and baseball. He loves music (Classic rock mostly) and playing video games. He has been a fan of the UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team and has seen them win two national titles in person. His favorite thing he likes to do now is drive his car. After the initial shock of the diagnosis was gone, Zack adopted the song title from Bobby McFerrin - "Don't Worry Be Happy" as his motto. That was printed on the dry erase board at every stay in his hospital room at St. Joe's. Zack spent a total of 147 days hospitalized for treatment between 5/07/09-10/23/09 with 48 of those being in the ICU and he was insistent that he was going to beat his illness. He loved picking on his nurses, doctors and child life specialists while there. The day we were discharged for good doctors, nurses and CL specialists treated him to a rousing rendition of Don't Worry Be Happy!!
