Our Miracle Maura has overcome so much in her two years of life, first overcoming heart surgery at 13 days, developmental delays and respiratory issues to face stage IV favorable Neuroblastoma at 8 months and fight like a champ through chemo with a smile on her face. She had setbacks initially at diagnosis, but then made it look easy, as she is a tough cookie.
Maura is our Cindy Lou Who, teaching the world that life is not about the expectations of perfection, it's about making the best of what you've been given and teaching others to appreciate the gifts that they already have.
She is an inspiration to many as she has such a love for life and greets everyday with a smile. Her favorite things are her dogs and being around people, as well as the Backyardigans, the Doodleboops and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. To see the way our daughter has inspired so many people and to hear stories about how when others were going through their own struggles they thought of Maura, inspires us and reminds us how lucky we are to have the gift of such a special child.
