Sara was a fighter. She never accepted it when someone told her she couldn't do something. All it did was make her want it even more.
Her school told her that she couldn't take Spanish or chemistry in home school...she showed them. She taught herself Spanish and volunteered at Whitney Laboratory for Marine Science and took DNA from jellyfish and photographed them under the microscope. Her school said that because of her health that she could make up some classes in Community College, she disagreed and got a full scholarship to University of South Florida. The morning before surgery to remove one of her lungs she was taking a final exam for a medical terminology class. The only fight she tried so valiantly to win, but was unable to, was her fight with cancer. She gave it her best and kept her amazing sense of humor through the whole ordeal.
She was my daughter, my best friend and my hero and I miss her tremendously.
I made Sara a promise from her hospital bed on her final night with us. I promised that I wouldn't let anyone forget her and anyone who didn't have the pleasure of knowing her would by the time I was done with them.
I love you Sara,
Mom
