My Story

Masyn's Journey began on Jan 29, 2009 after 3 weeks of having lots of pain and a number of doctor visits we finally came to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin ER and after a CT Scan were told our baby boy had a tumor the size of a softball in his abdomen! A parents worst nightmare! It was confirmed on Jan 31, 2009 Masyn tumor was a rare childhood Cancer called Rabdomyosarcoma. On Jan 30, 2009 Masyn had surgery and had to have a colostomy as the tumor was blocking a portion of his bowls. We spent 3 weeks in the hospital and started recieving chemo at that time. After 7 weeks Masyn's tumor did not respond to the chemo and his tumor had grown 1/3 in size so on March 26,2009 Masyn underwent surgery to debulk some of his tumor and put him on a much stronger chemo. After 4 rounds of the new chemo his tumor finally shrunk back down to the size of a softball and on July 9,2009 Masyn had surgery to remove the tumor,Prostate in which the tumor had originated from and also his bladder removed. Masyn recieved more chemo and had 5 weeks of Radaition Therapy and had his last chemo on Oct 23,2009! March 5, 2010 Masyn had his colostomy reversed and will continue to be watched very carefully with CT Scans every 3 months. Masyn has shown us how strong children really are. Masyn loves Thomas the Train, CARS (From the movie CARS) He is Fun Loving little boy who also loves going Fishing with Dad, Helping mom in the kitchen and Playing with his brothers and sisters! He is known to melt hearts with his Big eyes and Smile.
