My Story

Reynaldo DeJesus (a.k.a. Rey Rey) was born on May 11, 2006 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was a normal, beautiful, happy-go-lucky baby, smart beyond his age, funny, spunky and gorgeous, and he loved to share. But on February 22, 2008, our lives changed forever when he was admitted at Children's Hospital, diagnosed with Acut Myelogenous Leukemia (AML)--cancer in the bone marrow--and started chemo treatments right away. We all know chemo is not easy. During that time, he got very sick. Even when he was sick, he would make us laugh and chase him all over the hospital hallways. He was just a very courageous and strong little boy. Everyone who knew him or hear of him in the hospital, as well as many other places, knew of his courage. He was always ready for whatever. He was a joy to his family, friends, and even people who knew him strictly through the internet. He brought so many people together and we are very proud of him. We were in the hospital for a while and it was quite a journey. Rey Rey lost his battle with cancer and earned his wings on October 31, 2008. We miss him very much. Life, as we knew it, is no more. However, we believe in God and we know that though our chain is broken now, we will be linked together again. We love you Rey Rey.
