Beau Swallow is our oldest son. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ewing Sarcoma on January 4th, 2010 at age 12. His cancer started in his rib cage and spread to his chest and lungs. He went through 23 rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. He has shown no evidence of disease since summer of 2010.
Beau is a wonderful teenager. He has a 14 year old sister named Cate and a 12 year old brother named Jay. He is a fan of the RedSox, Patriots, and Celtics as well as the local Washington DC teams. An avid athlete before cancer, Beau ran track as a Freshman before undergoing Scoliosis Surgery that resulted from his cancer treatments. As a freshman, went to regional competition for his Science Fair Project studying his cancer and won an award from the Uniformed Public Health Service. Beau hopes to be a doctor some day. Beau has continued with cross country and boy scouts and recently went to Philmont and hiked over 75 miles. He is entering his Junior year at WT Woodson High School.
Our family is extremely grateful for the prayers and outpouring of support that have been provided for him. Beau has enjoyed participating in the Net App Fundraiser for St Baldricks for the past 3 year years. We are thankful for St. Baldricks Foundation for the continued dedication to Childhood cancer.
