Sadie was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma on Christmas Day, 2007. She had a solid tumor in her abdomen and 90% NB in her bone marrow. Sadie completed standard treatment in Jan. 2009, then relapsed in Nov. 2009 with NB in the bone marrow of the skull. Sadie was placed on oral Temodar/IV Irinotecan (and radiation therapy) for six months and was NED (no evidence of disease). She then continued treatment onto two clinical trials, which included six cycles of Fenretinide; then two cycles Vorinistat/Accutane. An MIBG scan then showed cancer spots throughout her skeleton. Sadie then had two rounds of iMIBG radiation therapy with Irinotecan/Vincristine. She showed NED, again, but relapsed in Dec. 2011. Sadie then had two rounds of IL2 Immunotherapy, but was pulled off the therapy due to low blood pressure.. She was then placed on oral Temodar/Irinotecan chemo for palliative care (which kept the cancer under control for more than two years!) Our sweet girl passed away on New Year's Eve 2014. She was thirteen years old. Sadie spent more than half of her life battling cancer.
She was a beautiful girl with a sun-shiny personality: outgoing, smart, energetic, and funny! Sadie loved video games, comic books, hip hop music, animals, golf, cooking, science, and playing clarinet in her school band. She wanted to attend medical school and become an anesthesiologist.
Thank you for supporting St. Baldrick's in honor of Sadie!
