Audrey Kate is a sweet and loving 8-year old who loves art, dancing, swimming and animals. She has a kind-hearted soul and is a joy to her parents and siblings, Hayden, Ava and Nathan. She was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) when she was 4-years old and underwent 2 1/2 years of chemotherapy. In May 2009, she will have been off-treatment for two years. At the 5-year off-treatment mark, she will be considered "cured". Forty years ago, leukemia was one of the deadliest forms of childhood cancers. Now, it is one of the most treatable. Audrey Kate's form of leukemia has an overall 85% long-term survival rate. Surely, she would no longer be with us had she been diagnosed 30 or 40 years ago. We realize the importance of research and are forever grateful that Audrey Kate's story is a survival story. We hope that organizations, like St. Baldrick's, will continue funding research projects that will ultimately save every child with cancer. Please help support this worthy cause!
