When I was diagnosed at ten years old, my life turned upside down. Being sick has been a blessing and curse for me, and after twenty one years I can go days, even weeks without thinking about my diagnosis. However, this year, in celebration of my twenty-fifth year cancer free, my husband and I are shaving our heads for St. Baldrick's Day. There is nothing more important to me than standing alongside children whose battles I wholeheartedly understand.
On behalf of the hundreds of cancer survivors I have had the pleasure and honor to know and remember through this simple act, I say thank you to St. Baldrick's and to the many who share a piece of themselves for this incredible cause.
