My Story
It has been twenty four years since my diagnosis with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. I was eight years old trick or treating on Halloween when I began to have difficulty walking and breathing comfortably. As most mothers would, she brought me to the ER. The pediatrician then told her that I had pneumonia! When I wasn't getting markedly better the doctors knew something wasn't quite right. Well, needless to say I was diagnosed and began treatment; chemo-therapy (and yes I lost my hair), spinal taps, cat-scans and who knows how many other types of medication. As a kid it was tough, but for my parents...unbelievably so.
This year (2009) will be my second year participating in this event as a shavee. I do it to raise awareness for an outstanding cause, to support the children affected and for the parents and the famlies for without whom the children may never improve.
