My Story
Jayden was diagnosed when he was 5 years old, after being sick for 6 months. He went through a lengthy hospitalization at Children's, nearly 3.5 years of oral chemo. Chemo pushes every month into his port and every 3 months he got a spinal chemo at Children's. Our family could not wait for the day that he would be done with his maintenance and neither could Jayden. He was so happy to not be taking medicine everyday and was over the moon when he got his port taken out. He has been telling everyone! Just mentioning that he doesn't have to take the "yucky" medicine anymore brings a huge grin to his face and he is ecstatic. We are very grateful to the staff at SEARHC, especially Dr. Grasmeder and Darin, his chemo nurse. If it wasn't for them, we would have had to travel to Children's every month for over 3 years. Being able to stay home and get his treatment helped ease the hardship of what Jayden was going through while we as his family had to stand by and watch. Very thankful to all the nurses and doctors at Seattle Children's, they are amazing!
