My Story

Andrew Holden Vanderploeg is now 12 years old, and one of the sweetest, most loving children you could ever imagine. On September 26, 2008 doctors discovered that he had a large brain tumor encroaching on his cerebellum which was beginning to affect his motor and cognitive skills. They were able to remove it surgically, but lab diagnostics confirmed what every parent dreads to hear. The tumor was malignant " medulloblastoma. Andrews treatments consisted of both radiation and chemotherapy, and he faced both like a champ, never complaining and spreading smiles wherever he went. His strength and gentle understanding of the needs of others is inspiring, he comforts so many others with his humor and love. He completed his treatments December of 2009, and we hope and pray that his fight with cancer is over forever, and for those still fighting we fight with them.
