Brooke recently turned 6 years old. She was diagnosed in March 2008 with ALL at
the age of 5. She had been complaining for about a month that her legs hurt, which I assumed was from growing pains. The weekend her baby brother was born, she began crying that they hurt so bad. The baby lost weight in the hospital so we had to go to the pediatricians office two days after being released for a weight check. We decided then to have her legs examined. The blood tests came back positive for blasts. We were sent directly to Texas Children's Hospital, where we have received the absolute best quality of care.
Brooke loves going to the beach, dancing, arts and crafts, watching scary movies with her dad, and playing with her friends. She completed kindergarten and is going into the 1st grade gifted and talented program. She is a good hearted and sweet child, however, extremely shy. She is a very picky eater and does not like to clean her room.
