Jessie Bullens-Crewe always stood out with her red hair, loud voice, and her constant enthusiasm for whatever she was doing. Her interests in science and the environment, arts and music, and her undeniable passion for all of life took shape in bold and innovative ways. She wanted to save the whales and the rain forests, stop pollution and put an end to prejudice. She had definite ideas about how to accomplish each one of those things. She was a sculptor, an inventor, and a comedian. Jessie Bullens-Crewe was full of laughter and joy. She displayed boundless energy and an unfailing spirit until her death in March 1996 at age eleven, during treatment for Hodgkin's Disease.
