Peyton has been in remission for 3 years now. She was diagnosed the day after Christmas, 2003. She endured 6 rounds of radiation and 7 rounds of chemo. She was brave and never complained. She actually saw the hospital as a fun place because of her awesome nurses, Child Life Specialists and playroom volunteers. In September 2004, she was declared NED and we are thoroughly enjoying remission! Now, she sees her Oncologist once a year for some basic scans to make sure she's still in remission, and in late 2009, she will be "5 year, all clear"!
Now, Peyton is a happy, healthy and energetic second grader who loves school, playing with American Girl dolls, riding her scooter, skating around on her Heely's, playing softball, attending AWANA at our church, fishing with daddy and beating her whole family in Guitar Hero and Wii sports games!
She loves french fries, PB&J's and pizza. But most of all, she loves being healthy again. Peyton wants to be a nurse when she grows up because her nurses took such good care of her when she was in treatment.
