I was 4 years old when I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. To be honest there isn't much that I remember. There are a few experiences that I will never forget however. One was the spinal taps and squeezing my dad's fingers as they stuck this 6" needle in my spine. I cried as my dad and I danced to our father-daughter dance and reminisced. I remember the unconditional love and support from my family, our friends, church and the wonderful organizations that were there to embrace us. I especially remember a roommate who had quite the opposite going for her. The only love and support that my roommate Yuri got was from my family.
I remember always wanting to help little kids like me. It has been a dream of mine to be able to give, hope, if anything to children going through what I have already been through. I still have a lot to learn and experience but I really want to be able to give back and share the blessings that I have so undeservedly obtained. I was diagnosed with Leukemia at age 4 and I just got married at age 24 to the angel that God hand picked for me, and have a wonderful career as a project assistant for a construction company. Blessed am I.
