My Story

Within days after Thanksgiving, Averyanna was admitted to the children’s hospital. They diagnosed her with cancer, a stage 3 Wilm’s tumor. She is currently undergoing a rigorous chemo treatment and will soon have surgery to remove the tumor. Please pray for our sweet Averyanna. On Wednesday morning she went into cardiac arrest. Thankfully there was a whole room of doctors around her when this happened. They started cpr and after about 10mins they got her pulse back. There are so many uncertainties right now but we need all the prayers we can get. Share Averyanna’s story. She went into cardiac arrest from an infection. The tumor in her kidney released this bacteria into the blood. Causing her to become septic. To help her body fight the infection and rest they needed to put her heart on Ecmo. They needed to go through her chest to do that. An hour later she went back in for another major surgery on her abdomen to see why it was swelling after the first surgery. She is on a ventilator to rest her lungs. Averyanna is fighting so so hard. The doctors are coming up with a plan to remove the tumor and kidney safely to stop the infection allowing the antibiotics to work. However a surgery like this on ecmo has very very serious risk. We pray the Holy Spirit moves through these doctors and God uses their hands to heal our babygirl!!! Amen! Averyanna went through a very difficult and risky surgery today to have her kidney containing the tumor removed. As the tumor was dying from the chemo it got infected. The doctors said they aren’t aware of this happening in any other Wilm’s tumor patient. Having her on ECMO made this surgery even more risky, but it was her only option. The surgical team made a solid plan to remove the kidney with the tumor, while she stayed on ECMO. We are so grateful to the surgeons and everyone on her surgical team that took the time to plan this very risky surgery. They were not going to give up! Neither was anyone else. It was a successful surgery and Averyanna stayed stable throughout. We are so grateful to everyone who has been praying, sharing, and donating. Prayer works! God is good! Thank you Jesus! Averyanna’s fight is far from over though and Amber needs all the support she can get. Averyanna has been fighting so hard. I could not be more proud of her!!! #averyannastrong They have been in the hospital for almost 4 months. Amber has not left Averyanna’s side. Amber is a single mother who makes everything happen for her child. Amber will not be able to work for an unknown amount of time, so any donation is much appreciated. Let’s show Amber and Averyanna the support they have through their family and friends and lessen the burden of this incredibly hard time. Averyanna is a miracle so many ups and downs. But she is off all the life support and recently was able to start talking again. She has to relearn how to use her body though. Lots of therapy in her future and they are still trying to plan the course of treatment for the cancer to make sure it doesn’t come back. Thank you for supporting Averyanna and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
