Thank you for supporting Emmy and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
Emmy was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 5, just weeks before her preschool graduation and yearly dance recital. At the time we didn’t know how we would make it through knowing she had to miss such important 5 year old events. Little did we know just how much more would be stollen from her childhood during cancer treatment.
Emmy was admitted to the hospital due to complications of treatment for 55 days. In those 55 days Emmy was weak and unable to walk, unable to eat, and unable to talk for a period of time, all due to effects of chemo. In addition to what she went thought the first 55 days, she also experienced an anaphylactic reaction to a specific chemo and has had overall nausea, fatigue, and pain related to treatments.
The bravery and fight this girl has had to exhibit in the last 9 months is nothing anyone should have to go through, none the less a child.
Thankfully Emmy reached remission after the first 28 days of treatment, but that didn’t change our 2.5 year treatment plan.
Emmy is now 6 weeks from the end of Frontline therapy. She has spent the last 9 months visiting the hospital more then school, seeing doctors more then friends, reading books about kids with cancer instead of unicorns flying, and has heard “no” you can’t do this or that far too often.
We hope Emmy’s story, and the funds her story can raise, help to find a SAFE cure for childhood cancer.
Thank you to all who contribute to the St. Baldrick Foundation.
