My Story
In July 2022, we had just dropped Tripp off at college to pursue his dream of playing college football at East Carolina University. During the physical for football, it was determined he was anemic, which led to more tests and a CT scan, showing he had Stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Immediately back at home, Tripp spent 18 days in a hospital in July to get a biopsy, port, and begin chemotherapy. We're happy to report that Tripp has been in remission since January 2024! Keep an eye out for #41 on the East Carolina University football team. He has worked hard to return to college and is on the honor roll. Still, Tripp has regularly scheduled scans to make sure he remains in remission. Tripp plans to graduate in 2026 and head to medical school to become a doctor. Additionally, the Smith family has started soliciting Lego sets to be given in honor of Tripp's journey to kids in treatment at Prisma and at ECU Health. He recently donated 150 sets to Prisma and another 50 sets to ECU Health!
