On November 8th, Ella received her leukemia diagnosis, and shortly after, on January 2nd, she faced Methotrexate toxicity with stroke-like symptoms, thankfully resolving within 24 hours. Then, on February 19th, while hospitalized for a neutropenic fever, she contracted Necrotizing Fasciitis, leading to eight surgeries over the following three weeks. Despite the severity, the doctors managed to save her leg, though the abductor muscle in her left thigh was removed. Today, March 28th, marks her 51st day in the hospital, where she is slowly relearning how to walk, all while continuing her battle with cancer.
The timing of Ella's Necrotizing Fasciitis was especially challenging due to her neutropenia from ongoing chemotherapy, with critically low white blood cell and platelet counts. However, thanks to her exceptional medical team, prompt granulocyte transfusions were secured, and Ella has been making remarkable strides in her recovery.
Ella's progress thus far has been nothing short of miraculous, a testament to her resilience and the unwavering support surrounding her. Just last week, she resumed her chemotherapy treatments and is determined to regain her strength and mobility.
