On October 5, 2023, the words no parent wants to hear were shared, "Your child has leukemia." Since that date, Aila has had several rounds of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, bone marrow tests, lumbar punctures (some with chemo delivery), PICC line, Broviac central line, countless medications to prevent infection, and long hospital stays. Before she got sick, she was a healthy and active toddler with a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh. She has shown so much strength and determination. Besides the fact she has lost most of her hair, you would never know she has cancer. She is an inspiration to her family, her treatment team, and everyone she encounters. She is scheduled for a stem cell transplant March 2024, which will be her best chance at permanent remission. Thank you for supporting Aila and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure. #ailasarmy
