Scout was diagnosed with Stage IV germ cell neoplasm in August 2022, at 15 months old. She had 2 tumors, one in the liver and one in the presacral region, along with nodules in her right lung. She completed 4 rounds of BEP chemotheraphy, 1 round of TIP chemo, and was finally cleared to have tumor resection on April 24, 2023. An 8.5 hour surgery later, her surgeons were able to remove 98% and 95% of her tumors. The day after her 2nd birthday, May 8, the full pathology of her tumor tissue came back and put her into remission. On June 9, the central line in her chest was removed, and a week later, she was cleared to resume normal activities. It has been a tough last year, but Scout is a fighter. We continue our fight for her and all the children that need better options in beating cancer!
