Vera was diagnosed at 3 years old after a week of medical professional rejections, dismissing her symptoms for a virus. We were told that if we had listened to the original professional advice given, Vera would have gone into organ failure and internal bleeding due to deadly blood counts and Leukemia having taken over 90% of her cells.
Despite reaching remission after 30 days of treatment, her treatment plan has caused severe side effects. Due to treatment, she has had to relearn walk, hypoglycemia, short-term vision loss, GI issues, foot drop, neuropathy, an array of mobility issues, anxiety, and depression.
Regardless of how much treatment has affected her world, she continues to find her own ways to thrive. She loves to sing and dance with her sister, she loves crafting, loves being social, and exploring new places when it’s safe.
